1. Protect Your Floor Underneath the Rug
A rug pad protects hardwood or laminate flooring from being scratched by the backing on an area rug. A dark area rug should have a rug pad underneath it to keep color from bleeding through onto carpet or light-colored tile.

Rug pads keep an area rug in position, preventing bunching and sliding. A rug pad keeps an area rug from becoming a slip hazard.

Rug pads reduce wear and tear on an area rug by preventing the rug fibers, especially wool or cotton, from crushing. Rug pads provide a cushion along with ventilation between the floor and the rug. They make vacuuming more effective by allowing air flow and preventing embedded dirt.

1. Ultra premium
As the name implies, this is the crème de la crème of rug underlayment.
This is 1/4″ thick of comfortable heaven for your feet, non-slip, hypoallergenic, and mold/mildew resistant.
The felt/100% rubber combination does not contain harmful chemicals like low quality pads.
It will not allow even your heaviest furniture to push through and dent the floor.
2. Super hold
It’s natural rubber, not plastic! Unlike the cheaper plastic versions, Super Hold will not off-gas, smell and damage the floor. Ever had to peel one of those cheap rug pads off a hard floor?
This non-slip underlayment offers moderate comfort with a full 1/8″ thickness. It’s great for those areas where you may not want a really thick pad, like in a door way, or if you just need to keep a rug in place.
Why not just get a cheap rug pad?

Unfortunately, the market is flooded with inexpensive rug pads that can cause serious harm to your floor.
The worst offenders are imported plastic rug pads, and they are everywhere.
The main problem with these cheap pads is that they are coated with adhesives to enhance grip, which can destroy your floors. These pads contain a combination of toxic chemicals which can "off-gas" and stain floors. Even worse, they can fill your home with toxins. The vast majority of these pads on the market come from overseas manufacturers and usually contain chemicals, oils, or adhesives that may negatively react with the chemicals in your floor finishes.
Another issue is that adhesive coating designed to enhance their grip causes them to end up literally sticking to your floors rather than gripping them. Also due to this adhesive process, the pad usually ends up sticking to itself creating lumps under your rugs and not actually functioning to keep your rugs in place.
